Nova Scotia Provincials - Pugwash Harbour Fest
|
The 25th Provincial Championships provided plenty of action at the HarbourFest in Pugwash. While entries were lower, the large crowd on hand made up for it. Mark MacPhail and Ralphie Bayers were the only double champions. Mark took the Left and Right Super Heavyweight divisions while Ralphie captured his first Heavyweight and Strong Hand Hold Titles. There were Tall Ships, Dorys, Hand Made Rafts, washer toss competitions a multitude of performers including Nova Scotia's own John Gracie. We had a great spot for our table and the crowd had a perfect view of all the action. A big thanks goes out to Pugwash and the entire Harbourfest committee for the outstanding job they did! The lightweight classes were small compared to most years with the absence of Artie MacMaster, Will Sarty and Darren Taylor. This allowed Ed McLellan to capture the Right hand class and Tim Wrigley to power his way to a Left Hand title. The biggest upset of the day came in the Left Hand Middleweight division with newcomer Paul Graham of Durham battled his way past Ralphie Bayers and favorite Mark Crouse to win his first Provincial crown |
